History
The temple is known famously due to the nearby Bagheswari Pahar (hill/mountain) where Tigers (Bagh) were found in good numbers. Devotees flock to the temple in large numbers during the festival of Durga Puja, especially at the time of 'Durga Mahaashtami' when the buffaloes were sacrificed.
Legend believed that Goddess Parvati was separated into many parts after Dakshya Yagya and scattered across the earth by Lord Vishnu. Among all the holy body parts scattered across the country, a part of her Trishul (weapon) was fallen on the spot where the shrine lies within the temple. Thus, Bagheswari is dedicated in the name of Goddess Parvati. Near Birjhora Hill, Bongaigaon Town. It is surrounded by Birjhora Tea Estate. The hills and Tea Estate with its lush greenery and serenity adds to its fantastic thing about the temple and creates the feeling of spirituality in the mind of devotees.
